October Updates for Aliens Laws
Here is a brief translation of a press release on the compatibility of asylum procedures with those regulated for Aliens Laws.
Of particular note, the Secretary of State for Migration has responded favourably to a recommendation from the Ombudsman:
- Applicants for international protection may obtain a residence permit without renouncing their status
- If an asylum seeker applies for a temporary residence permit, he is not required to give up his current proceedings
- Likewise, this application for a longer-term residence permit cannot be rejected for processing, as established by the Secretary of State for Migration in accordance with the 4th additional provision of the Aliens Regulations.
