Tax rebate for Javea property owners

The Catastrazo which increased the Council Tax to be paid by the owners of properties in Javea in 2005 – has been declared null and void by the Spanish Supreme Court!

According to the judgement of the Supreme Court,  owners of properties in Javea now have the right to claim back the excessive payments made as Council Tax for the years 2006 to 2011.

The Town Hall in Javea has already published a link on their web page ( where gives the instructions upon how to submit the claim. Unfortunately, this link is only in Spanish.

However, the alternative is to visit the public office (OAC) located in Avda Amanecer España, 2 to obtain further information.

Be aware that if you want to claim then this has to be done and submitted before the 19th April 2013.

Claims have to be submitted on writing, following the format published by the Town Hall in Javea and then to be submitted to the following address: Dirección General del Catastro, Ministerio de Hacienda y Administraciones Públicas. Cl Reyes Católicos 39, 03001 Alicante (Gerencia Territorial Catastro Alicante).

If the claims are not approved, the Town Hall in Javea has promised to take legal action against the Government on behalf of the owners (at no cost).

If you want to know more about this and how you can claim back any excess payments, then do feel free to contact me…
